Laya Yoga Kundalini Mantra
(K.R.I. Level One Teach Training Manual, p. 482.)
PART ONE
Sit in Easy Pose or in a chair with a straight spine. Pull a gentle Root Lock and Neck Lock. The eyes are closed and focused at the third eye point. The left hand is in Gyan Mudra resting on the left knee. Block the right nostril with the thumb of the right hand as the other fingers point straight up and the palm faces toward the left. Breathe long, deep and completely through the left nostril for 2-3 minutes.. As you breathe, visualize and feel each area of the body. Consciously survey the body from the top of the head to the tip of the toes. Be systematic and thorough. Sense the movement of the prana as it circulates to all the areas you survey.
Switch hands and nostrils. Do the same breath through the right nostril for 2-3 minutes. Then inhale deeply, hold briefly and relax.
PART TWO
Place the hands together in Prayer Mudra at the middle of the chest. Press the middle joint of the thumbs into the center of the sternum between the 5th and 6th ribs. Apply 5-10 pounds of pressure. Concentrate at the brow point. Breathe long and deeply for 2 minutes.
Then begin Breath of Fire for 1 minute.
PART THREE
Still sitting in Easy Pose, immediately raise the arms up to 60 degrees over the head. Form Gyan Mudra with each hand. The palms face toward each other with the wrists straight. Breathe long and deeply for 3 minutes. Inhale and hold briefly at the end.
PART FOUR
Still sitting in easy pose, apply Root Lock and Neck Lock. Place both hands in Gyan Mudra on the knees with the elbows straight. Close the eyes to 1/10th open. Concentrate at the brow point and chant:
EK ONG KAAR-A, SA-TA NAAM-A, SIREE WHAA-A HAY GURUU.
The chant has a kind of spin to its rhythm. Mentally you “spin” the sound from the base of the spine up through the crown of the head into the cosmos. Apply Mulbandh throughout. On the “A” sound consciously lift the diaphragm firmly. Start the chant on EK by pulling the navel point in sharply.
TIME: Continue 11-31 minutes.
End: Inhale deeply and hold the breath as long as you comfortably can. Then relax.
Comments: This mantra was guarded like a secret gem. It is the key to the inner doors of Naad, the realm of creative sound. If you listen to the sound of the mantra and then concentrate into the subtle sounds of the mantra, you will become absorbed into the unlimited domain of your Higher Self. The mantra has a structure of 3 ½ cycles in its spin. Each A lifts the diaphragm which commutes the energy of prana and apana across the heart area. That transformation is one cycle. The 3 ½ cycles is the pulse rhythm of the Kundalini itself. This is why the Kundalini is often represented as coiled 3 ½ times.
As with all other real mantras, this one is not made up. It is discovered by the seer who travels in the subtle realms of consciousness. It has been confirmed by countless practitioners who adapted the discipline of the meditation. The inner sounds can be heard at different levels of subtlety. The vibrations of Naad have difference octaves of creative impact.
This mantra takes you to the most subtle realm of creativity. It awakens the Kundalini force that energizes the whole Creation. It awakens your awareness and empowers you to sense your subtle body of the aura. The practice of the meditation gives you intuition and the power to heal.
The word, “lⲹ,” refers to suspension from the ordinary world. Laya Yoga fixes your attention and energy on your essence and your higher consciousness. It lets you absorb into the bliss and creativity of consciousness without the normal distractions and attachments having power over your reactive awareness.
This mantra opens the secret book of Laya Yoga. It enables you to consciously remember and experience the link between you and the Creator. You will know the constant flow within you. Practice it for 40-120 days. It will etch into the subconscious and the memory and experience of your true identity. This will gain you liberation.
When you practice this kriya earnestly, be conscious and grateful with each word you speak. Do not listen to negative or coarse speech from others. Remember that the sins of the past are of the past and that some of the greatest saints were sinners first. If you have the opportunity to learn and to practice this technology of elevation, you have earned it and you deserve it. So do not hesitate to use it and to strive for progress and expansion.
